Get Involved at NEMJDS! Volunteers are the heart of our school. They enable us to go the extra mile in providing the highest quality education by assisting in the classroom, sharing their expertise, fundraising, and serving on the Board, or board committees, and supporting our office staff. Volunteer hours are greatly needed and appreciated on a regular basis.

Besides being of great benefit to the school, volunteerism will also benefit you! Your volunteer participation will enable you to become more connected to the school, will help you to get to know NEMJDS’s exceptional teachers and staff, and most important is the incredible feeling you get, seeing the smiles on the students’ faces!

To volunteer, please contact Operations Manager, Pamela Cohen, who can direct you to the best person to fit your volunteer needs.  Whatever amount of time you can devote will be appreciated. We have opportunities as brief as one hour or as meaningful as a committee chairmanship!

Examples of volunteer opportunities:

  • Office Assistant: Answer phones to enable office staff to work more efficiently.
  • Hebrew Tutoring: Work one-on-one with students to strengthen their Hebrew language skills; lessons and guidance provided by classroom Hebrew teacher.
  • Reading Reinforcer: Work with students in Kindergarten and First Grade, reading to them and listening to them read to strengthen reading skills.
  • Classroom Presenter: Share your particular expertise with a class studying that subject.
  • Board of Director Committees: Volunteers have input into our Board of Directors by serving on various committees. Some of these committees include: PR & Recruitment, Strategic Planning, & Annual Campaign.
  • PTA Class Parents: work with PTA and your child’s teachers to organize class field trips, increase communications, and other odds and ends throughout the year.
